What do lessons involve?
-
Individual lessons once a week
-
Recitals twice a year
-
Opportunities including local performances, workshops, summer institutes, summer camps, and local student orchestra programs
Parents do not need to have any prior musical training, only a commitment to attend each lesson and to practice with their child at home daily. Each lesson integrates hands-on coaching and detailed instruction so you can be a confident home teacher for your child between weekly lessons. Carefully structured lessons using activities and games with small, success-oriented steps invite you and your child to enjoy the process of learning to play the violin together.
Curriculum
Folk songs, classical songs, fiddle tunes, memorization, ear-training, basic music reading, basic music theory, and an introduction to music history, as well as graduation parties as your child completes each book of the repertoire.
